Jennifer McKinnon and Michael Nunziato met and live in New England. But the bride’s uncle is a priest who moved to Southern Pines to start a church. “He is my godfather, and I wanted him to marry us,” Jennifer says. “I decided to travel to North Carolina to make it easier for him.”

The couple welcomed their guests with a delicious dinner at Ironwood restaurant in Pinehurst. The next day, May 17, 2025, they wed lakeside at the Pinehurst Resort. Mike adores the water in his home state of New Hampshire. He asked Jennifer to marry him on a dock. “I wanted to choose a place where Mike could look out and see a lake and boats and have his moment,” says Jennifer.

The bride walked the aisle, the first part by herself, and the rest of the way with the groomsmen — her two sons. For the after party, everyone headed to the Carolina Hotel.

“Coming from Connecticut, I underestimated true Southern charm, the Pines area, and just how perfect my vendors would be,” Jennifer says. “North Carolina beat my own high expectations.”

Brandt Davis + Garrett Lance

Places have played a big role in Brandt Davis and Garrett Lance’s relationship. The couple met in Washington, DC. For three years, they dated long distance, traveling between DC, Philadelphia and New York. “We became Amtrak loyalists,” Brandt says.

When the time came, the proposal took place in the Midwest, in Garrett’s hometown of Geneva, Illinois. Brandt popped the question at Christmastime while the two were out shopping and grabbing coffee. For the wedding itself, the husbands-to-be landed on Brandt’s hometown of Pinehurst. His parents hosted the welcome party in their backyard. The couple stayed outdoors for their Episcopalian ceremony, exchanging “I dos” near the fountain, on the lawn of the Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities on Apr. 26, 2025. Inspired by the natural beauty of the venue, the color scheme was green and blue. As a nod to all their collected places, Brandt and Garrett took their guests on a journey. “Instead of table numbers, we ordered retro-style postcards from cities we’ve lived in,” Brandt says.

Jessica Ammons + James Noble

James Noble knew his then girlfriend, Jessica Ammons, wanted an intimate proposal.

“He proposed in our cozy apartment in front of the tree as we were exchanging gifts on Christmas night, just the two of us,” Jessica says. “It was absolutely perfect.”

For their wedding venue, the future Mr. and Mrs. Noble chose The Village Arboretum.

“It was very important for us to get married in Pinehurst,” says Jessica. “We love living here and wanted all our family and friends to be able to experience our little hallmark town.”

The Nobles got married on Apr. 5, 2025. They accentuated the season with a spring garden theme, incorporating loads of florals and pops of pink and green. Jessica’s dad even built a planter box that served as the couple’s seating chart. Bubbly & Bright Event Design Co. filled the box with fresh blooms, and Jessica designed escort cards on wildflower seed paper that guests could take home and plant. The couple also paid tribute to Pinehurst, gifting hats with embroidery that read, “Noble Golf Links — EST 2025.”

Becky Mac Brown + Richard Chatham

Becky Mac Brown and Richard Chatham knew each other for more than 30 years before tying the knot at Old Bethesda Church, in Aberdeen, on March 22, 2025. “I’ve been a member of Bethesda since I was a child, and my mom’s family has been involved with Bethesda since its mid-19th century beginnings,” Becky says. Her great-grandparents and dad are buried in the cemetery. “I always knew that was where I wanted to get married.”

The newlyweds celebrated their nuptials one town over, in the Fair Barn, in Pinehurst. “I’m not one for deliberate themes,” Becky says. “I just chose my favorite things, and it all came together: family, friends, flowers and history.”

The venue was decorated in white and her go-to neutral, navy. John G’s Barbecue filled blue-and-white plates that Becky spent months collecting from eBay, thrift stores and the like. A family friend made their wedding cake. “My only regret is that so many of the people I love were in the same place at the same time and I didn’t get nearly enough time to visit with everyone,” Becky says.

Miranda Miller + Javin Bradley

Javin Bradley’s best friend was dating Miranda Miller’s best friend. That’s how Javin and Miranda met and started dating. The best friends tied the knot, and Miranda and Javin would soon follow suit. The future Mrs. Bradley suspected that Javin would propose in Boone, one of their favorite places to visit. But Javin switched up the plans to try to keep his bride on her toes.

“While we were in Wilmington, we went to the beautiful Airlie Gardens where he proposed to me in front of a huge oak tree,” Miranda says. “It was such a sweet moment, and Wilmington will always hold a special place in our hearts.”

One year after their engagement, the couple exchanged vows on Nov. 23, 2024, in Pinehurst’s Fair Barn. After saying, “I do,” Miranda changed into a reception dress altered from her mom’s wedding dress. Miranda’s grandmother turned leftover fabric into the tablecloth for the Bradleys’ sweetheart table. “I look back on my wedding day with so much joy and admiration,” Miranda says.

Kelly Moss + Willi Martin

When Willi Martin was a kid, he visited Pinehurst to watch the U.S. Open. Decades later, on Nov. 9, 2024, Willi married his bride, Kelly Moss, on the first tee box of Pinehurst Resort’s legendary No. 2 golf course. “We wanted the natural beauty of the course to be the backdrop to our ceremony,” Kelly says.

Next came the reception in the Outlook Ballroom. The resort cooked up a spread of North Carolina favorites, including a whole hog of pulled pork barbecue. For a late-night snack, guests enjoyed hot dogs and french fries in honor of Willi’s late grandfather who owned a Wiener Works in Fayetteville. Willi’s parents now run the restaurant.

After the last hot dog was eaten, the newlyweds ended their reception in a quiet way. “One of our favorite memories of the night was our ‘last dance’ when all our guests left,” Kelly says. “It allowed us to reflect on all the love we felt from our guests and really celebrate as a couple the amazing night we had!”

Jamie Kelley + Joseph Stivers

Jamie Kelley was stationed at Fort Bragg for more than 17 years, and Joseph Stivers was there for more than 20. But the couple didn’t meet on post. Set up by a friend, they connected by telephone while Joe was traveling for work. The two exchanged calls for a week before Joe returned home and they went on their first date at Aberdeen’s Workshop Tavern.

Fast forward to Oct. 12, 2024. The Stivers married at Village Pine Venue in front of 200 guests. “We loved the Charleston look with all the brick and the butterfly garden,” says Jamie.

Genuine Hospitality Catering & Events magicked up the meal, and the Bakehouse crafted the cake. But before the food, the party and even before the ceremony, the Stivers shared a special moment ahead of their “first look.”

“Before we saw each other, we held hands through the arch and prayed together. It was so special and just started everything right. I highly recommend just having a moment together,” Jamie says. “The day goes by so fast.”
